What is International
Childhood
Cancer Day?
International Childhood Cancer Day is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer, and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors and their families.
Help support a child during their most challenging time with our medical shirt. Our medical shirts allow easy access to port, iv, and line, enable privacy, reduce anxiety, and are MRI and X-ray safe.
MEDICAL SHIRT SUPPORTThe story behind the Gold Ribbon
In 1997, a group of parents whose lives were affected by childhood cancer and a board member from the American Childhood Cancer Organization (Originally the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation) chose the gold ribbon as the official symbol to encompass all types of childhood cancers. According to the ACCO’s website, the color gold was ideal as “gold is a precious metal, and is therefore the perfect color to reflect the most precious thing in our lives—our children.” (3)
The gold ribbon was designed to honor all children who have gone through or are currently undergoing cancer treatments, their families, caregivers, medical staff, and any volunteers working within the childhood cancer community.
